Myofunctional therapy helps restore the natural balance of the face and mouth.
Through mindful exercises, muscle function and coordination are improved, which supports breathing, swallowing, speech and the development of teeth.
Therapy is suitable for all ages – the approach is always personalised and tailored to your needs.
Beautiful facial features
Balanced muscle work supports the natural shape and symmetry of the face.
Helps in situations where the face is tense, or vice versa – muscle tone is reduced.
Clear speech
Stronger and better-functioning muscles support clear pronunciation and fluent speech.
Quality sleep
Breathing freely is the basis for peaceful and restorative sleep.
Therapy can help if you have breathing problems while you sleep.
Conscious eating habits
Proper chewing and swallowing support eating habits.
Balanced dentition
Correct muscle patterns support the natural development of teeth and jaws and help to maintain the results of treatment.
Good effort
The balance of the mouth and face area affects the whole body.
The therapy supports natural body movement and reduces muscle tension.
What does the therapy look like?
The therapy starts with a consultation to assess breathing, tongue position and muscle function.
On this basis, an individual exercise programme is drawn up. The exercises are simple and can be done on a daily basis, but consistency is essential to achieve results.
Meetings are held regularly to support the development of new habits and monitor progress.
Referral to a myofunctional therapy service
For children, a doctor’s referral is required to attend myofunctional therapy. This is because the service is funded by the Estonian Health Insurance Fund and a referral is a prerequisite.
Adults do not need a referral for myofunctional therapy and can come on their own initiative.
